Kaeko Mizukoshi

Born in 1976, and lives and works in Tokyo. Kaeko Mizukoshi's video work might be called a travelogue. In fact, the majority of her work is created through her journeys to Europe, but it is not a mere record of her trip. She constructs particular scenes or unique images that Japanese people have about Europe. By emphasizing the fictional elements, her work reveals that these ideas about "Europe" are influenced by film, novels or the mass media. Mizukoshi's inclusion of stillness in the moving image creates a unique sense of the passage of time, and abstracts the borderline between reality and fiction. Mizukoshi graduated from Oil & Japanese Painting Course at Tama Art University. She is a winner of Shiseido Egg Award 2006, and had a solo show "DELIRIUM" at Shiseido Gallery, Tokyo.
